Brooklyn Decker’s Met Gala Diary

On Monday night, actors, singers, models, and designers flocked to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City for the annual Met Gala–and because the theme this year was “Punk: Chaos to Couture,” their looks had a decidedly hard edge. But how did they get red-carpet ready? ABC News asked actress Brooklyn Decker to keep a journal of her day to find out.
The “Just Go With It” actress, 26, says she started her day bright and early at 6 a.m. “to go spinning and get the juices flowing. I hope I don’t fall asleep at dinner!”
But first it was time for breakfast: “I’ve been nibbling throughout the day to make sure I fit into my dress and don’t faint,” she writes. (See snack photo below!)
“After breakfast I got a manicure and pedicure in a shiny graphite to bring out the colors in my dress–a Peter Pilotto with beading that resembles their beautiful prints. It’s probably the most ‘me’ dress I’ve ever worn to the Met!”
She met with her glam squad after.
“I hang out with my makeup artist, Patrick Defontbrune,” she writes, “and decide to start putting on eyelashes three hours early.”

But then things stopped going so smoothly.
“4pm, zipper emergency!” she writes. “It just broke. I’m going to have to be sewn into the dress! Getting undressed when I get back to the hotel [the Ace in Manhattan] is going to be a challenge.”
One way to ease her nerves? Pretty, shiny things.
“My stylist, Annie Ladino, brings thousands of dollars of jewelry to choose from. Can I wear ten rings at once? And my hair stylist, Patrick Melville, and I discuss hair options. We decide on a pretty side part with a punk twist.”

It’s almost show time–and, according to Decker, a cocktail.
“I may have a second vodka soda to settle my nerves,” she frets. “Red carpets terrify me!”

After stopping to chat with “Good Morning America” on the carpet, the actress made her way into the dinner party, where she mingled with models Kate Upton (“my boo!”) and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.

“My table included great American designers Calvin Klein and Donna Karan,” she writes, adding that she was especially excited when Kanye West took the stage to perform. “I’m not sure if it’s okay for me to sing along to the entire performance so I do it very quietly.”
“What a thrill,” she concludes. “[It was] an honor to be here!”

CBS introduced its prime-time 2013-2014 schedule on Wednesday, featuring eight new series — five comedies and three dramas. Five of the new series will premiere in the fall and three at mid-season.

Some big names are on the slate, including Robin Williams, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Will Arnett, Brooklyn Decker, Anna Faris, Allison Janney and Tony Shalhoub.

“Our team has 20 shows renewed…Having this sort of stability makes us really excited,” Leslie Moonves, CBS president and CEO, said Wednesday during a morning conference call. “All I can tell you is the network is alive and healthy,” he added before the TV slate was announced.

CBS noted that comedy is a “priority for us,” as well as offering “more originals, fewer repeats.” A total of 20 shows will return to the CBS schedule, including the No. 1-rated “The Big Bang Theory,” “Mike & Molly” and “2 Broke Girls.” “How I Met Your Mother” will return for a final season, with viewers finally getting to meet and know the mother.

Tuesdays will be dedicated to drama with “NCIS,” “NCIS: Los Angeles” and “Person of Interest.” Thursdays, meanwhile, will feature a two-hour comedy block from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. ET.

New Comedies

“The Crazy Ones” is a single-camera comedy, starring Robin Williams and Sarah Michelle Gellar. This workplace series follows “a larger-than-life advertising genius whose unorthodox methods and unpredictable behavior would get him fired…if he weren’t the boss.” Simon Roberts (Williams) leads a powerful agency, alongside his daughter Sydney (Sarah Michelle Gellar).

“The Millers” is a multi-generational show, starring Will Arnett, Margo Martindale, Beau Bridges and JB Smoove. Arnett portrays Nathan Miller, a recently divorced news reporter looking forward to living the singles’ life until his parents’ marital problems unexpectedly derail his plans.

“Mom” is an edgy family comedy from executive producer Chuck Lorre, starring Anna Faris and Allison Janney. Faris plays a newly sober single mother raising two children. It follows her ups and downs as she tries to navigate it all. Christy (Faris) is a waitress at a posh Napa Valley establishment who is four months clean and doing her best to be a good mom and overcome a history of questionable choices. Janney plays her critical, estranged mother.

“We Are Men” is an ensemble single-camera comedy starring Tony Shalhoub, Kal Penn, Chris Smith and Jerry O’Connell. Debuting on Monday nights, this series will follow four newly single men, living in a short-term housing complex, who are trying to figure out life and love.

The romantic comedy, “Friends with Better Lives,” is schedules to launch mid-season. It centers on six friends at different stages in their lives – ranging from divorced to single. Though they seem happy, each of them secretly questions if the grass is greener on the other side. It stars Majandra Delfino, Kevin Connolly, James Van Der Beek, Brooklyn Decker, Rick Donald and Zoe Lister Jones.

New Dramas

CBS will introduce two new dramas scheduled for Mondays at 10:00 p.m ET; one to launch in the fall, the other to debut in early 2014. The first — “Hostages” — will kick off in the fall. The 15-episode, highly-serialized thriller series from Jerry Bruckheimer stars Toni Collette, Dylan McDermott and Tate Donovan. It follows a doctor, played by Collete, who is taken hostage on the night before she’s supposed to operate on president of the United States.

After the season finale of “Hostages” in January, CBS will put “Intelligence” in that same time slot. Another high-action drama, “Intelligence” sees the return of Josh Holloway of “Lost” fame. It also stars Marg Helgenberger and Meghan Ory. Holloway plays Gabriel, a high-tech intelligence operative enhanced with a super-computer microchip in his brain. He’s the first human ever to be connected directly into the worldwide information grid — with access to Internet, WiFi, telephone and satellite data.

Midseason will see the premiere of the new legal drama, “Reckless. It’s set in Charleston, S.C., “where a gorgeous Yankee litigator and a charming Southern attorney must hide their intense mutual attraction as a police sex scandal threatens to tear the city apart.”

We are SO happy about this! It’s been announced today (May 13th) that CBS has chosen Brooklyn’s new sitcom Friends With Better Lives for the Fall season! We don’t know many details yet but we’ll be posting everything as soon as we know.

CBS Picks Up James Van Der Beek’s Friends with Better Lives

CBS has ordered the series Friends with Better Lives, starring James Van Der Beek, Brooklyn Decker and Kevin Connolly, TVGuide.com has learned.

The multi-camera comedy follows a group of thirtysomethings who each think that the other has it better. Dana Klein and Aaron Kaplan will executive-produce, with Klein also writing.

Friends with Better Lives is the eighth series CBS has ordered. Read about CBS’ other series pickups here.

‘Friends With Better Lives’ Gets Series Order At CBS

CBS has given a series order to multi-camera comedy pilot Friends With Better Lives, which I hear CBS topper Les Moonves, who developed Friends back in his Warner Bros. days, had been hailing as a potential new incarnation of the blockbuster NBC comedy. With its setup as a young ensemble, Friends With Better Lives could certainly become a successor to CBS’ departing comedy How I Met Your Mother. Written by Dana Klein and directed by James Burrows, Friends With Better Lives revolves around a group of 30-something friends who each think the other has it better. I hear the series pickup deal came after 48 hours of intense negotiations, spearheaded by executive producer Aaron Kaplan of Kapital Entertainment. He is exec producing Friends with Klein for 20th Century Fox TV. The ensemble cast includes James Van Der Beek, Brooklyn Decker, Rick Donald, Kevin Connolly, Zoe Lister Jones, Majandra Delfino. Friends With Better Lives was one of two CBS comedy pilots at the network still in contention. I hear the other, Bad Teacher, is still a possibility for midseason. CBS’ current tally of new comedy series stands at five — Friends and Crazy Ones, We Are Men, The Millers and Mom. That is more than double what CBS ordered on the comedy side last May and the most comedy orders at the network in a long time.

Congratulations to Brooklyn on this exciting new project, we can’t wait to see her on our TVs every week

And here is a nice article about the party

We look ace! Tennis star Andy Roddick and wife Brooklyn Decker dress up in playful costumes at Eighties party
By JENNIFER PEARSON
PUBLISHED: 20:58 GMT, 15 April 2013 | UPDATED: 06:40 GMT, 16 April 2013

Andy Roddick and Brooklyn Decker turned back the clock to the decade that style forgot over the weekend.
The tennis ace, 30, and his gorgeous model-turned-actress wife, 25, had fun dressing up at an 1980s-themed party on Sunday night which raised money for Andy’s foundation.

Flashback to the ’80s: Andy Roddick and his wife Brooklyn Deckler hosted a charity bash on Sunday in Austin, Texas, that drew quite a fun crowd
But the couple were in great spirits at the ‘Bogey Down’ event held at the Barton Creek Country Club in Austin, Texas.
The benefit drew quite a raucus crowd including the likes of Jim Courier and baseball legend Roger Clemens.
The Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model was certainly proud of her costume, a white, off-the-shoulder short frock.

Let’s rock: Brooklyn and Andy posed with some pals at the party which took place at Barton Creek Country Club in Austin, Texas
She wore her blonde hair swept back from her face in a curly side ponytail, which she seemed to enjoy swishing around throughout the evening.
Andy was decked out in jeans, a faded denim jacket and baseball cap, an ensemble that looked quite contemporary, but no one was looking too closely at him.
His spirited spouse swayed attention her way and took to Twitter to share some of the fun moments.

Celebrate! The Just Go With It star posed with a friend in early Madonna get-up and tweeted, ‘My 80s lady’
Brooklyn posted a cute pic of herself in dark shades with a pal, writing in the caption: ‘My main man @acwishtv @theARFoundation.’
The Just With It star included a picture of herself with a female friend, tweeting: ‘My 80s lady.’
She also shared a photo of herself holding a gigantic 80′s-era cell phone, writing: ‘Who?? Who is it??’
‘Me and my roomies,’ Brooklyn captioned beneath a fun-filled photo of her, Andy and a friend.

There’s more: The party kicked off The Andy Roddick Foundation’s inaugural celebrity golf classic on Monday
Brooklyn and Andy celebrate their fourth wedding anniversary on Wednesday, which probably helped put her in the happy mood.
The couple’s benefit bash helped to kick off The Andy Roddick Foundation’s inaugural celebrity golf classic on Monday at the Spanish Oaks Golf Club.
Meanwhile, the North Carolina native who was named one of the ’100 Hottest Women of All Time’ by Men’s Health, recently revealed that she was so ‘awestruck’ by Jennifer Aniston’s beauty on the set of their film Just Go With It that she was too scared to exercise with her.
‘She’s so active and had to be in a bikini for Just Go With It – she just had this glow about her,’ Brooklyn told Women’s Health. ‘I was a bit awestruck!’

The GQ&A: Brooklyn Decker Says “No” to Facial Hair, Meggings, and Sweet-Smelling Air Fresheners
BY STELIOS PHILI

Back in February, I interviewed actress and supermodel Brooklyn Decker for GQ’s April issue about…home scents. Yes: Home scents. When I told her we needed to talk about “smell,” she got kind of nervous—like I was going to say she smelled bad or something. The first mention of home scents, however, disarmed her immediately, and she revealed her disdain for lemon bar-scented man-homes as well as foot odor. And then, perhaps as a preemptive measure, she added, “I mean, I probably smell half the time, which is too much information.” She smelt like model, which is to say, very good.

At the time, Decker was promoting Gillette’s Fusion Pro Glide razor and had just announced the results of the brand’s survey on facial hair: 85 percent of women like kissing clean-shaven guys instead of bearded ones. She agreed. (MEN, FYI: BEARDS GIVE BROOKLYN DECKER PIMPLES.) But there is one exception: “The Brawny man is a prime example of a guy with a cool-looking mustache.” After hearing her candid thoughts on facial fair, I moved on to the topic of meggings, or man leggings. Having never heard of them, she was shocked and extremely curious at the mere suggestion (“What do they do about their junk?”). Below, a delightfully random conversation with Brooklyn Decker.

···
GQ: You were a part of Gillette’s “Kiss & Tell” campaign, which found that women prefer to kiss a clean-shaven dude over a bearded man. Where do you stand?
Brooklyn Decker: A little scruff looks nice, but it feels so uncomfortable. Think about how a guy wants a girl to have smooth legs: It’s expected. Shouldn’t a guy be expected to do the same on his face? I think that’s only fair. I thought women would be like, “Yeah, it’s uncomfortable, but I like the way it looks,” similar to a pair of shoes. The results go to show you that women are passionate about a smooth face—they don’t care what it looks like, they just want it to be soft against their skin. Also, women can get beard burn, have you seen that?

GQ: Woah, really?
Brooklyn Decker: Yeah, girls can start breaking out on their face…not fun.

GQ: Even you?
Brooklyn Decker: Yes. I hate the scratching and the red mustache I get afterwards. And you can get pimples on your chin because of the oils from the facial hair and the stabbing. It’s not a cute look.

GQ: But aren’t there certain beard legends that get a free pass?
Brooklyn Decker: I mean, the Brawny man is a prime example of a guy with a cool-looking mustache. Does he still have it?

GQ: Nope.
Brooklyn Decker: He shaved it off? That’s unfortunate. A cartoon on paper towel-packaging is the only one I can think of, so I guess that shows you what I think about beards. Lumberjacks in general can get away with a beard. Or if you live in Alaska.

GQ: Next topic: Scent. What’s your criteria for how a guy’s place should smell?
Brooklyn Decker: Guys, your home should never smell like artificial food: candy canes, gum drops, lemon bars. I mean, I will consume lemon bars in mass quantities, but I don’t want my house to smell like one. Something more organic—say, a clean, woodsy scent—is always nice.

GQ: It’s like, “Are you making me lemon bars or not? What’s with this deception?”
Brooklyn Decker: Exactly! He should be making real freakin’ lemon bars. And then his place can smell like a lemon bar. I should have brought some. [Looks around the press conference room table] There’s like a whole platter of room temperature croissants if you would like one.

GQ: Nah, I’m good.
Brooklyn Decker: Do you smell the artichoke by the way? It sort of smells like vomit. Too much information. [To her publicists] Do you guys smell that? No? It’s good now. I’ve gotten used to it. As you do.

GQ: Is there anything else beyond an artificial scent that bothers you?
Brooklyn Decker: A lot of guys do smell like feet. I mean, I probably smell half the time, which is too much information, but you never want to leave sweaty gym clothes in the hamper for a week or two—it just gets worse over time.

GQ: What’s the scent of choice in your own home?
Brooklyn Decker: You know what I love the smell of? Christmas trees and pine. I always have a pine candle even if it’s not Christmas. Or fir. Frasier fir is a nice smell in the house. I live in Texas and my yard has deer and fox and raccoons, so it kind of smells woodsy anyways.

GQ: What’s the most PC way to have a scent intervention with a smelly friend?
Brooklyn Decker: Tell somebody that they stink. Because people have told me that in the past and I have to just swallow the truth. What do you think the PC way is?

GQ: I’d use “reek.”
Brooklyn Decker: Yeah, “reek” is good. Any sort of adjective to describe “stinky.”
