Brooklyn Decker Talks Fantasy Football

Model Brooklyn Decker Talks Fantasy Football

Model and actress Brooklyn Decker is married to tennis player Andy Roddick, so you would assume she was a die hard tennis fan. Decker talked with Yahoo Sports recently, and revealed she’s passionate about football team the Carolina Panthers.

With Decker’s love for the Panthers, the model decided to create a fantasy football league. And why not? She had to show her admiration for quarterback Cam Newton somehow.

In an interview with Evan Doherty with Yahoo Sports, Decker explained she had put together a successful 2013 fantasy football campaign. The model won her league but started having trouble keeping track of all her fantasy players, because she starts to fall off as the weeks continue.  Still, even if she neglects her fantasy team, a wins a win.

Even though the model won’t be putting together a league this year (the first time in six years), she had some pretty cool competitors in the past.

Last year, Decker was in a league with comedian Adam Sandler. Sadly, she wasn’t asked to compete again the next year. “I wasn’t asked back, I think because we won last year, we weren’t asked back,” Decker said.  Decker may be too much of a tough competitor for Sandler.

Decker also spoke about the trash talk she tried to stir up within her league, because she was going against so many comedians. “I tried to start some trash talk on the message boards, because we had like David Spade on our league, we had a bunch of great people in our league,” she said. You’d assume that the trash talk would be rather impressive with all the comedians Decker was playing with, but she reveals that they were rather serious fantasy players. “I was the lone solider,” when it came to smack talking her opponents.

Even though you wont be seeing Decker smack talk any comedians this year, she’ll be definitely rooting for her home team, the Panthers.

Brooklyn Featured in Vogue

Posted by andre with No Comments

From idea to execution, ten CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund finalists redefine what it means to be an American original. Here, we take a look at where they’re coming from, where they’re going, and the actor and musician muses who inspire them most right now.

Brooklyn Decker for VOGUE

“I learned how to shoot a machine gun,” exclaims Brooklyn Decker, the 24-year-old model-turned-actress (and other half to tennis superstar Andy Roddick) who’s just finished filming Peter Berg’s high-octane, alien-invasion flick, Battleship out next summer, in Hawaii. “At one point, I was sticking my arm through a windshield shooting it, and I started bleeding. Everyone was like, ‘Just use it!’ ”

As Decker (pictured above with Ohne Titel designers Alexa Adams and Flora Gill) points out, the rough-and-tumble demands of working on a big summer blockbuster like Battleship are obviously miles away from the more sedate photo shoots she’s used to working on. But now that the former Sports Illustrated pinup has made a commitment to acting—first in this past spring’s Just Go With It, with Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston, as well as the upcoming 2012 pregnancy-themed comedy, What To Expect When You’re Expecting (“My character basically breezes through her pregnancy, which is really annoying to watch,” she jokes. “If I’m honest, it’s setting an unrealistic standard for myself and every woman out there”)—she’s started to relish the prospect of picking up at least a few bumps and scrapes in the name of getting a good shot.

“It’s fun to bring stuff like that home,” she continues.“They’re like battle wounds. Every time we filmed that scene over the next couple of weeks, they had to add blood and a cut to match me cutting my arm.”

Brooklyn Decker: I’m not any good … yet

Posted by andre with No Comments

Brooklyn Decker FansMore famous as a Sports Illustrated swimwear model, or as Mrs Andy Roddick, than as an actress, Brooklyn Decker was thrust into the Hollywood limelight earlier this year in Just Go With It where she had to match quips with Adam Sandler and out-sexy Jennifer Aniston.

Decker is candidly honest in describing how she felt. “I was terrified, completely terrified, so nervous… Jen [Jennifer Aniston] and Adam [Sandler] are my idols and I grew up watching both of them, so suddenly to be working alongside them was a very intimidating task. But I think it was the best way to learn, for this to be my first film with the two of them.”

It is clear the 24 year old, Ohio-born daughter of a pacemaker seller is still more of a star-gazer than star in the Hollywood spectrum.

“Oh I was so star-struck. I wish I wasn’t but I was. The first day I met Jen I think I maybe said two words to her because every time I tried to say something I would nervously ramble on” she admits.

While for many Hollywood is a calling, for Decker growing up it wasn’t even a fantasy.

“To be honest I grew up in such small towns [in Ohio and North Carolina] that being an actor wasn’t even a remote possibility. No one from North Carolina was in movies, you know? I actually wanted to be a veterinarian, I wanted to take care of animals” she recalls.

It was her rapid rise through the modeling world, after being discovered in a Charlotte mall, that inadvertently inspired her acting ambitions.

“I got really lucky with the modeling and I started studying acting as a way to get some education because I wasn’t going to college or university. That’s when I fell in love with it. Now that I’m acting I’m working so hard to get better because I know I have a lot of room for improvement.”

“I’m not any good yet, but I’m trying to learn. I’m studying and trying to get better, and I feel I’m at a very early stage in my career. I hope to grow with each role.

Decker’s self-deprecation seems genuine, if tied to a healthy dose of ambition. She has clear career goals and her sights are set on another comedy big shot. “I started with comedy and the second movie I’ve done [Battleship] is an action war film. I want to do something smaller next, something indie.”

“I like anything Judd Apatow does. I don’t know if you’d call those romantic comedies, they’re more straight comedies, but there’s a lot of heart to them. He finds a way to make the characters very funny and sometimes crass but still with a lot of heart. I’d love to work with Judd, actually. I’ve met him and again I could barely get a word out because he’s so smart.”

Decker was widely linked with the “Megan Fox replacement” part in Michael Bay’s Transformers: Dark of the Moon, a role that ultimately went to fellow model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. Yet those sort of seen-but-not-heard roles don’t really appeal.

“There are more female-driven movies coming out, but it is more difficult for women. I’ve gotten a few offers where you play the wife of a really great character or the girlfriend of a great character, and while it’s nice to be part of a great movie you want to play someone of substance even if it’s a small role. In a lot of movies women play accessories and that doesn’t interest me so much” she said.

Yet she is under no delusions about her role in Just Go With It, including multiple bikini-clad sequences in the Hawaii-based second half of the film. “Seeing my half-naked body up on that giant screen… I knew I was going to have to see myself in slow-mo over and over again.”

Though she’s graced magazine covers and is the subject of admiring gazes from many, watching herself on the big screen is no source of enjoyment. “I can’t. It’s awful. It’s a horrible experience. Everything annoys you from your mannerisms to your voice. With dailies I’m like, ‘I’m not going to continue watching this because I know I’m going to be so upset’.”

Staring at Jennifer Aniston on set was a different matter entirely however, with Decker finding herself gazing too avidly. “She’s tiny! She’s so little, but then I’m like 5ft 9ins so I’m a giant compared to most people, but she’s so little and petite and the cutest thing. She has these giant eyes. They’re like big pools of blue, so beautiful, and I caught myself drooling a few times staring at her.”

The stares are what Decker believes inspired the reports of rivalry between the two on set, “I think it’s been written about that there was, but there really wasn’t. I was staring at her with envy because she looks so darn good and her abs are ripped and she just looks beautiful.”

While she might feel she hasn’t mastered acting or comedy yet, the swimsuit model who catches herself gawking at women has at least got a firm grasp of irony.

Brooklyn Decker Sizzles At The 2011 ESPY Awards

Posted by andre with No Comments

Brooklyn Decker has made the leap from sexy swimsuit model to big screen bombshell, and now, the gorgeous blonde is now offering up a casting idea for who should portray her tennis superstar husband, Andy Roddick, in any future films.“Sean William Scott – because Stifler and him are twins,” Brooklyn told Access Hollywood’s Shaun Robinson at the ESPY Awards in Los Angeles on Wednesday — referencing Seann’s infamously rowdy “American Pie” character — when asked which actor would be best to play Andy. “Stifler and my husband could pass for twins! As far as looks alone, I think that’s the best option.

“They could pull one over me,” she continued, laughing. “They haven’t yet, thank goodness!”

While Brooklyn is rapidly rising up the ranks of Hollywood’s most desired, with a role alongside Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston in “Just Go With It” and a starring role in the upcoming sci-fi film, “Battleship,” the 24-year-old beauty admitted she still gets “star struck” in the presence of certain celebrities — especially sportscaster/”Dancing with the Stars” contender Erin Andrews.

“[Erin] is beautiful and she’s smart and she knows sports and she’s like the dream girl,” Brooklyn told Shaun. “So, I love her. I just recently went and basically bowed down in front of her. She’s my favorite!”

“Battleship,” which also stars Liam Neeson, “Friday Night Lights” hunk Taylor Kitsch and Rihanna (in her feature film debut), is slated for release on May 18, 2012.

“Extra” correspondent Adrianna Costa also talked with model/actress Brooklyn Decker on the ESPY red carpet and actor Jonah Hill about his amazing weight loss!
