the BMW Magic Millions Horse Carnival – Interview

Posted by andre with No Comments

This morning I was up with the birds and down on the foreshore of Surfer’s Paradise ready to meet Brooklyn Decker, the Brand Ambassador for the BMW Magic Millions Horse Racing Carnival and it was a blast.  Proving to be incredibly down-to-earth and as glamboyant in person the “Just Go With It” star turned up in an emerald green Roland Mouret Dress, tangerine Tony Bianco wedges and a stylish but low key Phillip Treacy headpiece (not like the crowd-stopping headpiece Sarah Jessica Parker wore last year when she was here for the Melbourne Cup).  Brooklyn pulled her hair back into a sleek bun and kept her make up natural by wearing a soft gold shadow, a lovely peach gloss and soft pink nails.

Brooklyn, famous for being a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model starred alongside Adam Sandler, Jennifer Anniston and Nicole Kidman, rom-com Just Go With It. Brooklyn told us that she was:

“Humbled and honoured to work with Nicole Kidman.”

Brooklyn is very fond of Australia, she lived in Sydney when she first started out modelling, she loves the casual laid back attitudes of us Aussies, and has been here too many times to count giving her a strong connection to the country.  We asked her how she became the Brand Ambassador and she said her agent got a call and she said yes straight away because of her connection and she hadn’t been to the Gold Coast before.

Brooklyn shared her excitement about being named the brand ambassador for the horse racing carnival:

“I am so excited to be the ambassador of the 2012 BMW Magic Millions Carnival. I look forward to the sunshine, glamour and horse racing.  I was actually named after a horse and I grew up around them in North Carolina, so seeing these majestic animals’ race and the yearling sales will be a thrill for me.  Plus I get to dress up in Myer summer racing fashions and millinery for the carnival, which I am really looking forward to!”

We asked Brooklyn about Aussie fashions, because the races are a big stylish affair here, we love to go all out with our fashion and she shared her favourite Aussie designers with us:

“I love Ellery, Sass & Bide and Dion Lee. Dion Lee is really making in-roads int the US.  I particularly love all the bright colours this season.”

We also asked Brooklyn about working with Rihanna on her upcoming film Battleship and what was it like to go from a ‘fluffy’ film like “Just Go With It” to a full-on action film like Battleship, she shared:

“It was a really hard transition to make, there was lots of training involved, including fight scenes and gun training. Working with Rihanna was really great and I really loved the challenge of it all, it pushed me out of my comfort zone.”

After Battleship we can expect to see Brooklyn in the upcoming rom-com What to Expect When You’re Expecting which she said was really fun to play being pregnant.

Brooklyn will be in Australia this week, and will be judging the Fashions on the Field at the Magic Millions Race Carnival on Saturday January 14th.  She’s also in Australia supporting her hubby Andy Roddick for the Australian Open in Melbourne.

Just Go With It, Brooklyn’s brilliant

Posted by andre with No Comments

The well-worn path from modelling to acting is paved with more calamities than success stories.

Think Cindy Crawford in the dud thriller Fair Game, or Gisele B adindchen as a bafflingly bad Brazilian bank robber in Taxi.

Ahead of her movie debut in the Adam Sandler/Jennifer Aniston romantic comedy Just Go With It, Brooklyn Decker is keeping a lid on her expectations.

“I am not at a point now where I could even look at an Oscar and see it as a realistic goal,” the former Sports Illustrated cover girl and wife of tennis champion Andy Roddick says.

“I am way too new and that is sort of on another planet for me. But I look at girls like Cameron Diaz who started out in (modelling) and then she went on to do things like Any Given Sunday and Gangs Of New York with (Martin) Scorsese – she has done some amazing films.

“I hope that if I just get a tiny bit of what she got, then I will be over the moon.”

The charming, curvaceous and drop-dead gorgeous Decker admits there is plenty of baggage that comes with the model-turned-actress tag.

“There are pluses and minuses,” she says. “There are a lot of doors that are open because people know of your career modelling but there are also a lot of people who close the door because you came from a modelling background and that’s hard.

“So I have been secretly doing acting classes. The biggest thing is that if you are willing to work then directors and producers are really responsive to that.”

Decker, 23, who has been modelling since her late teens, made the switch looking for a new challenge. After scoring the coveted cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition last year she went looking for a new way to grow and develop.

“I am a learner, I am always reading and wanting to learn new things so for me acting was a way for me to do what I love doing but learn along the way,” she says.

In Just Go With It, Decker plays maths teacher Palmer, who is the object of desire for Sandler’s character Danny, a plastic surgeon who pretends to be unhappily married to seduce women. Aniston plays his assistant Katherine, who is sucked into a scheme to help Danny win Palmer back by pretending to be married to him.

Nicole Kidman also indulges her lighter side, appearing as a hula-dancing rival of Aniston’s character in Hawaii.

The film topped the box office when it was released in the US.

“Adam Sandler, Jennifer Aniston, Nicole Kidman – you are working with pros who have been doing this for years,” says Decker. “That’s daunting because you know if there is going to be a weak link to the movie it’s probably going to be you, which is kind of intimidating.

“But luckily it was a comedy so it was light material and we had fun with it.”

Now she has a taste for acting, Decker is keen for more. She finished up the action blockbuster Battleship at the end of last year, which stars Liam Neeson, Taylor Kitsch, Alexander Skarsgard and Rihanna.

“I worked on that for a good four months and I think it’s going to surprise a lot of people,” she says.

“There was weapons training, stunts with cars, it’s more of an intense film with a lot of fights and a lot of yelling.”

One thing you can count her out of is mixed doubles with her top-10 ranked husband Roddick, who also has a cameo in Just Go With It.

The pair met in thoroughly celebrity fashion when the former US Open champ got his agent to get in touch with her agent after seeing her in Sports Illustrated in 2007. They have now been married nearly two years.

“It’s so bad,” Decker says of her forehand. “I think I have a worse temper on court than my husband does. I tried playing and ended up throwing the racquet but that was the end of that. I think I will leave it to him and I will stick to what I do.”

Just Go With It is released on March 31

Brooklyn Decker upstages Jennifer Aniston & Nicole Kidman

Posted by clau with No Comments

There are already reports about the premiere of  ‘Just Go With It’ & Brooklyn was the favourite lady of the night …

Easy tiger! Brooklyn Decker upstages Just Go With It co-stars Jennifer Aniston and Nicole Kidman in low-cut animal print dress
Swimsuit model-turned-actress Brooklyn Decker pulled out all the stops for the premiere of her new movie in New York tonight.
The 23-year-old beauty poured her curves into a sexy low-cut animal print dress, ensuring she upstaged her more experienced and elder co-stars, Jennifer Aniston and Nicole Kidman.
Jennifer, while still looking great, went for a more understated look as she slipped into a strapless, full-length black dress.
Scroll down to see the trailer for the film…
Walking on the wild side: Brooklyn Decker looked hot to trot in an animal print dress, teamed with purple heels, as she attended the premiere of her new movie Just Go With It in New York tonight
Classic black: She managed to upstage her co-stars Jennifer Aniston and Nicole Kidman who were more understated and slightly more covered up
But the 41-year-old gave a tantalising glimpse of her toned legs in the gown, which was split to the thigh.
Nicole, meanwhile, who was accompanied by her husband Keith Urban, went for a double leather look in a knee-high dress and jacket.
She covered up on top in a high-necked blush-coloured shirt as she posed on the blue carpet, which was flanked by grass skirt-wearing Hawaiian dancers in a nod to where the movie was filmed.
Just Go With It, which is due out on February 11, stars Adam Sandler as plastic surgeon Danny, who pretends to be married to attract women.
Say cheese: Jennifer poses with her co-star Adam Sandle who plays plastic surgeon Danny and pretends to be married to attract women in the movie
Leading ladies: Nicole went for a double leather look while Brooklyn went low-cut and Jennifer gave a glimpse of her toned legs with her dress split to the thigh
When he meets the woman of his dreams, played by Brooklyn, he has to rope in his office manager Katherine, played by Jennifer, and her children to complete the pretence.
Kidman puts in an eye-catching supporting role as the extremely competitive arch-nemesis.
The movie, which was filmed in Hawaii last year, is Sports Illustrated model Decker’s first feature film.
During filming both Decker, who is married to tennis ace Andy Roddick, and Aniston were pictured filming on the beach in their bikinis, which saw the women pitted against each other.
Be my date: Nicole was joined by her husband Keith Urban and the pair put on an affectionate display as they posed for photographers
Rom com: Brooklyn in a scene from the movie, setting temperatures rising in a yellow bikini
But in an interview with Access Hollywood earlier this month, Sandler revealed Jennifer’s body was just as admired on set.
‘It’s a beautiful, beautiful thing. Jennifer works hard, she eats right, you know, she does,’ Sandler said.
‘She never snacks on the stuff I snack on.’
And Jennifer admitted that despite filming alongside former swimsuit model Decker, she still felt confident on set.
Nice to meet you: But Sandler said Aniston’s body was equally admired on set during filming
‘I just was [feeling] pretty confident and I keep in good shape and you know, I felt pretty all right with everything.’
Adam also had good things to say about Nicole’s figure: ‘She’s in ridiculous shape too.’
Jennifer added: ‘Have you ever seen a six-pack like that?” I actually had to touch it.’
Just Go With It is released on February 11 in the U.S. and the UK.

More inverviews and More work

Might be one of the funniest movies I’ve seen in the last 18 months. Adam and Jennifer are hilarious, but who knew that Dave Matthews,,,yes that Dave Matthews could be so funny playing Nicole Kidman’s husband as the most obnoxious couple on film in years. Brooklyn Decker, the S.I. cover model, is impressive in her film debut and Nick Swardson adds to the craziness as Jennifer Aniston’s fake boyfriend.
