Brooklyn Decker’s Met Gala Diary

On Monday night, actors, singers, models, and designers flocked to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City for the annual Met Gala–and because the theme this year was “Punk: Chaos to Couture,” their looks had a decidedly hard edge. But how did they get red-carpet ready? ABC News asked actress Brooklyn Decker to keep a journal of her day to find out.
The “Just Go With It” actress, 26, says she started her day bright and early at 6 a.m. “to go spinning and get the juices flowing. I hope I don’t fall asleep at dinner!”
But first it was time for breakfast: “I’ve been nibbling throughout the day to make sure I fit into my dress and don’t faint,” she writes. (See snack photo below!)
“After breakfast I got a manicure and pedicure in a shiny graphite to bring out the colors in my dress–a Peter Pilotto with beading that resembles their beautiful prints. It’s probably the most ‘me’ dress I’ve ever worn to the Met!”
She met with her glam squad after.
“I hang out with my makeup artist, Patrick Defontbrune,” she writes, “and decide to start putting on eyelashes three hours early.”

But then things stopped going so smoothly.
“4pm, zipper emergency!” she writes. “It just broke. I’m going to have to be sewn into the dress! Getting undressed when I get back to the hotel [the Ace in Manhattan] is going to be a challenge.”
One way to ease her nerves? Pretty, shiny things.
“My stylist, Annie Ladino, brings thousands of dollars of jewelry to choose from. Can I wear ten rings at once? And my hair stylist, Patrick Melville, and I discuss hair options. We decide on a pretty side part with a punk twist.”

It’s almost show time–and, according to Decker, a cocktail.
“I may have a second vodka soda to settle my nerves,” she frets. “Red carpets terrify me!”

After stopping to chat with “Good Morning America” on the carpet, the actress made her way into the dinner party, where she mingled with models Kate Upton (“my boo!”) and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.

“My table included great American designers Calvin Klein and Donna Karan,” she writes, adding that she was especially excited when Kanye West took the stage to perform. “I’m not sure if it’s okay for me to sing along to the entire performance so I do it very quietly.”
“What a thrill,” she concludes. “[It was] an honor to be here!”

Posted by clau with No Comments

As we previously announced on twitter, Brooklyn attended the MET Gala again this year. The theme this year was “PUNK: Chaos to Couture” so Brooklyn was wearing her best classy-punk look. Enjoy the pictures in our gallery.

Her dress was made by Peter Pilotto and her makeup was done by Melville Pipino.

Brooklyn Decker covers Flare Magazine

These days Brooklyn Decker, 25, plays in blockbusters opposite superstars such as Cameron Diaz and Alexander Skarsgård. But it’s clear this fashion lover from North Carolina hasn’t forgotten her days as a top model, when she posed for Victoria’s Secret, American Eagle Outfitters and, perhaps most famously, the cover of Sports Illustrated’s 2010 swimsuit issue.

Decker made a stylish arrival on set (a glam Hollywood Hills mansion) in Current/Elliott black leather leggings, a Sass & Bide black tank and a By Malene Birger beige peacoat. In front of the camera, she breezed through the sexy-sporty shoot wearing looks by Victoria Beckham, Peter Pilotto and Stella McCartney—proving she’ll no doubt be a natural on the red carpet circuit this summer, too

On her style: “I like the tomboy look and military influences. I like things that have a little bit of an edge to them. I love a masculine spin on a feminine look. I’m trying to wear things that are tailored to me so you can actually see my shape but it’s like pulling teeth getting me to do it–it’s an evolution.”

On her style icons: “Poppy Delevigne, she’s a fashionista girl, she does that really well, that whole boy meets girl look. Rosie Huntington-Whiteley I think has fantastic style, I love what she did last year with her whole transition [to acting]. Jane Birkin’s quintessentially French style but it’s still really comfortable, loose and cool. I love Lauren Hutton because she’s dressed very masculine, like she would wear suits on the red carpet.”

On designers that she loves: “Miu Miu is probably one of my favourites just because it’s fashion with a sense of humour. It’s always a little bit quirky, and cheeky and I like that idea of having a sense of humour with fashion. It should not be taken so seriously all the time. I love Stella McCartney and Rag & Bone. I mean I’m also a massive Target fan and a massive Zara fan. Oh I love Chloé, speaking of, especially when Stella McCartney was designing.”

On her FLARE photo shoot: “It was all very edgy which I don’t get to wear a lot, so for me it was really fun. [Liz Cabral] showed me designers and I’m like, ‘oh, that’s Peter Pilotto and that’s…” and she’s like, ‘how do you know all this?.’ I follow it so there was none that I didn’t recognize, but really, it’s FLARE, so they used a lot of really well known designers. And a lot of new ones too, like Altuzarra.”
