Vanity Fair Feature – June 2012

Posted by clau with No Comments

Brooklyn is featured in this month’s issue of Vanity Fair (Marilyn Monroe covers the magazine), here’s her interview, some pictures and the scan of the actual magazine.

The swimsuit model turned actress—whose next movie is May 18’s Battleship, in which she plays the daughter of an admiral (Liam Neeson) and love interest of Taylor Kitsch—posed in a variety of summery outfits at her June-issue Vanities shoot. Click to see her pinup-on-vacation style.

PROVENANCE: North Carolina.
AGE: 25.

SO, HOW DOES A SOUTHERN GIRL END UP WITH A NAME LIKE THAT? “I’m named after a horse. My mom’s best friend had a horse named Brooke, so my dad suggested ‘Brooklyn’ as a more formal version, and it just stuck—and now I live in Brooklyn part-time, so go figure.”

LEARNING CURVE: Believe it or not, Decker’s voluptuous build wasn’t in demand when she started modeling. “There were countless jobs I didn’t get because of my figure. I wasn’t that successful as a model, ever. I just had a few clients that really embraced my curves.”

INTO THE UNKNOWN: At the height of her modeling career, Decker decided to walk away from it. “The Sports Illustrated cover was the last thing I shot. That week, I told my agent, ‘You know what, I really …I don’t want to be a model anymore. I really want to do movies.’ And I think he wanted to wring my neck at the moment.” Her acting career has blossomed, with two films, Battleship and What to Expect When You’re Expecting, due out on the same day, May 18.

LONG-TERM PLANS: Decker married tennis star Andy Roddick in 2009. “I think that I’d like to try to be a superwoman and have kids and work, so we’ll see if I can actually accomplish that. But, if we’re talking dream scenario, that would probably be it.” If anyone knows about living the dream, she does.

Brooklyn Decker & Big-Screen Love Scenes

Posted by andre with No Comments

Brooklyn Decker may seem like the girl who has it all, but apparently not everything comes easily to the supermodel-turned-actress. According to the 24-year-old beauty, Battleship director Peter Berg made her prove she had real acting chops before giving her a highly sought after role in the Summer blockbuster. We met up with Brooklyn at the movie’s press junket at the US Naval Base at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii recently to hear about the brutal audition process. Brooklyn also talked about her girl crush on Rihanna, her love scene with Taylor Kitsch, and explained to us how she handles watching her onscreen hookups when husband Andy Roddick is by her side. Check out our interview with Brooklyn and catch Battleship when it hits theaters May 18!

Posted by andre with No Comments

From neon yellow heels to a sleek Stella McCartney gown, Brooklyn Decker has been getting a lot of attention for her head-turning style during the Battleship world promo tour.

And she stepped out in her sexiest look yet at the film’s South Korea premiere Thursday. Clad in a sheer lace Femme d’armes number that revealed strategically placed black undergarments, the swimsuit model-turned-actress wowed fans as she signed autographs and posed for pics alongside co-star Taylor Kitsch.

She also flashed brand-new hot pink streaks in her blonde updo, following in the colorful footsteps of January Jones, Ashley Tisdale and Ashley Benson.

Battleship Stars Make Holiday Phone Calls to Deployed Sailors

Posted by andre with No Comments

Actors from the upcoming feature film “Battleship” spoke to USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70) and embarked Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 17 Sailors during a phone call to the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier Dec. 16.

Two fans aboard Vinson exchanged greetings and asked Brooklyn Decker and Taylor Kitsch a number of questions throughout the call.

Aviation Ordnanceman 3rd Class (AW) Rodel D. Mosuela, a Chantilly, Va. native, assigned to Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 81, asked Decker about her experience working with major Hollywood stars and active duty service members on the set of “Battleship”.

Decker said it was like seeing two worlds, military and civilian combined.

“All the things that you do are very admirable,” she said as she addressed Mosuela’s sacrifice of leaving his family behind to defend his country. “Thank you for what you do.”

Mass Communication Specialist 3rd Class (SW) Megan L. Catellier, an Indianapolis native assigned to Vinson’s Media Department, spoke with Kitsch about her experiences living on a ship and being on station after last year’s devastating earthquake in Haiti.

“I got the chance to be on the ground and take photos,” she said explaining her role as a Navy photographer. “I’ve learned to appreciate what I do.”

Both Decker and Kitsch sent their greetings to the crew by thanking them for their service and wishing each a happy holiday.

Battleship behind the scenes video lands online

Posted by andre with No Comments

A behind the scenes video for next summer’s blockbuster hopeful Battleship has pitched up over at Entertainment Weekly (thanks to Slashfilm for the heads-up).

All the major players speak, including Taylor Kitsch, Alexander Skarsgård, Brooklyn Decker and director Peter Berg.

We also get our first proper look at Rihanna in action in her first movie role: she wields all sizes of gun with conviction, but this footage still doesn’t show us whether she can actually act or not.

On top of that, there are explosions galore: will this be one of 2012’s guilty pleasures?
