OK! Exclusive: Brooklyn Decker Reveals A Surprising Fun Fact About Her Husband Andy Roddick!

By Lea Palmieri on September 4, 2014

Listen up football fans, because Brooklyn Decker is about to help make your life SO much easier—before the new NFL season has even begun! The supermodel, and big Carolina Panthers fan, has teamed up with Visa to celebrate Footballentine’s Day . This genius idea is a day, September 6th to be exact, where NFL fans can send their loved ones 18 beautiful, free (!) roses to say, ‘Hey sorry I’m going to be kinda busy watching football for the next few months and might miss a date night or two.” Brooklyn explains her favorite game day snacks, the Netflix show that makes her sob every time and a surprising fact about her husband, tennis player Andy Roddick, that we never would’ve guessed!

OKMagazine.com: Let’s talk about Footballentine’s Day! What a fun initiative that probably didn’t take much convincing to get you on board.

BD: Well I’m a big football fan so I found it to be really funny. I just thought what a really clever, fun idea to get people involved, to kick off the NFL season and to get people to check out Visa Checkout. It’s just a really fun initiative and I figure it’s going to save a lot of people a lot of time when they have to apologize for missing date night on a Sunday night.

OKMagazine.com: Between you and your husband Andy, are you the hardcore football fan? What does he get swept up in?

BD: I love football, I’m a Panthers fan, and he’s a fantasy football guy so I would send him 18 roses for missing dates on Sunday nights when I’m watching the Panthers play and he would probably send me 18 roses to apologize for constantly checking his fantasy lineup. We’re both equally accountable, but just for different things.

OKMagazine.com: Eighteen beautiful, and free, roses is a great present, but is there another gift you would love to have?

BD: I’m not a big gift person, I’d rather just spend time with somebody. For my friends’ birthdays, and for holidays with my family, instead of getting gifts we visit each other, we go take hikes together, we go on kayaking trips, things like that. Those to me are really great gifts, because we don’t have time these days so times with friends would be a better gift than anything else, aside from 18 roses of course!

OKMagazine.com: When it is game day, how do you make football attire cute? Do you do anything to jerseys to make it look feminine and fun instead of just throwing on an oversized jersey?

BD: I don’t. As bad as that sounds I don’t even try! I wear a jersey, I wear my sweatpants, I wear eye black, I go all out. There’s no time to make anything cute, I just wear the jersey as is. If you’re going to do it, commit fully.

OKMagazine.com: Do you have any game day snacks that you love to chow down on?

BD: I feel like I travel so much that I eat unhealthily all the time, I’m eating unhealthy now specifically, so I try to eat healthy on game day because it’s the one time I’m sitting down in front of my TV and can control what I’m eating. I’m not in an airport, I’m not on a set, your food’s not dictated for you. So carrots and hummus are my go-to snack for game day which is incredibly boring but I actually try to be healthy.

OKMagazine.com: When it comes to Andy, what is the girliest thing about him or something we might not know?

BD: He’s a dude, through and through, I have to say. He’s a closet musical fan. He loves musicals. He’s seen Jersey Boys four times in different cities, but that’s about it. He loves musicals which isn’t even girly at all, it’s just sort of a funny, unknown thing about him. But I find it really masculine because it’s very attractive when someone likes art like that.

OK! News: Even the biggest Friends fan will love these 22 fun facts

OKMagazine.com: You’re working on the new Netflix series, Grace and Frankie— are there other Netflix shows you are currently binge-watching?

BD: I am a massive House of Cards fan. I watched both seasons in two weeks. I was very behind on the Scandal craze but I’m fully caught up on all three seasons. I just started Orange is the New Black and Derek on Netflix which I feel like is a highly underrated show that not enough people watch, I cry at every single episode. It’s my favorite show on TV right now, it’s Ricky Gervais, and it’s unbelievably heartwarming. It’s just one of the best shows I’ve ever seen. It’s so good. The season is only like 7 episodes, and the season finale, I’m telling you, you will be sobbing. It’s so beautiful.

OKMagazine.com: Your new show is created by Friends co-creator Marta Kauffman, and since we’re coming up on the 20th anniversary of the Friends premiere, has she shared any stories on set about the iconic sitcom?

BD: Nothing yet, but I do need to ask questions and I feel like the anniversary might prompt a few. One of my favorite episodes was when Ross had the leather pants and the flour and he couldn’t get out of the leather pants, I could ask about that.

OKMagazine.com: Yeah, ask her how on Earth they managed to keep a straight face during a scene like that!

BD: That’s great, yeah! How did you not laugh all the time? How did people not break character every take? That’s a great question.

Sports Illustrated’s 50 Greatest Swimsuit Models

Posted by clau with No Comments

Sports Illustrated Swimsuit’s website SwimDaily.com released this week a list of the 50 Greatest Swimsuit Models and of course Brooklyn was part of the list, in fact she made it all the way to the Top 10 in #7 ranking higher than some iconic SI models such as Daniela Pestova, Paulina Porizkova and Christie Brinkley. Even though Brooklyn is our #1 girl (and will always be) we’re happy to see the SwimDaily staff ranked Brooklyn so well. Here’s what they had to say about Brooklyn and what she had to say about her experience with the magazine

7. Brooklyn Decker

Hometown: Kettering, Ohio
Years in Swimsuit Issue: 6 (2006-2011)
Social: Twitter | Facebook | Instagram

Decker, an Ohio native, was first featured in the 2006 Swimsuit issue. She then appeared in six consecutive issues, including the 2010 cover, and hosted a behind-the-scenes television special in 2007. She will be starring in the CBS sitcom Friends With Better Lives this fall.

Random Fact: Decker is married American retired tennis pro Andy Roddick. They first met after Roddick saw Decker in the Swimsuit issue, and had his agent contact her for a date.

QUOTABLE

On her favorite swimsuit memory: “Shooting in the Maldives with Walter Iooss. It was my fifth or sixth year, so at that point the SI crew had become a traveling family to me. Walter and I clicked immediately. We just ran around the beach all day long and told stories at night. That turned out to be the year that I was on the cover. It was the most beautiful ocean I have ever seen in my life. It was a pretty special shoot.”

On her career since first swimsuit appearance: “SI made my career. Truly. They are one of the smartest companies out there because they invest in their girls. They gave me a show with Dr. Z (“She Says, Z Says”) when I was 19, making weekly football picks. From there I got my first TV pilot…then it just snowballed. SI Swimsuit scouts unknown talent, turns them into brands, and shortly after everyone else catches on!”

On her favorite all-time swimsuit model: “It has to be Marisa Miller. That probably has a lot to do with the fact that when I came on as a rookie, she was one of the nicest people I had met and continues to be supportive and wonderful to this day. (Not to mention her perfect abs/booty/body- don’t even get me started on that!)”

If you’re missing Brooklyn’s work for SI as much as we do, go ahead and check all pictures from her six-year run with the magazine in our gallery

2006 – Colombia

2008 – Israel

2009 – The Grenadines + Bodypaint

Brooklyn Decker on her next film role and love for TV on CBS News

Posted by clau with No Comments

Brooklyn Decker attends The world’s largest shave & kiss event with Gillette at the Time Warner Center on Feb. 14, 2013, in New York.
The 25-year-old actress was in New York away from her sweetheart, Andy Roddick, to work a “Shave and Kiss” event for Gillette. Guys made sure they had a clean shave before puckering up in hopes of breaking the world record for the most kisses in one minute by a couple.

“It’s one of the funnier things that I’ve ever seen because I think the record is 258 kisses in a minute. So if you think about that, it’s four kisses a second so these people are grabbing each other’s faces and basically banging their heads against one another,” Decker told CBSNews.com. “At least they’re doing it clean-shaven and they’re not giving their girlfriends beard-burn, but it’s pretty funny to watch.”

After the shaving lesson and kissing contest, Decker, who graced the 2010 cover of Sports Illustrated, spent some quality time with friends in New York on Thursday night.

“I’ve never really been a big celebrator of it [Valentine’s Day]. I’m usually with my girlfriends,” she said, adding, “This is around the time that Sports Illustrated comes out, so I’ve always been with the girls of the magazine since I was 18 years old. But some of my best Valentine’s memories would probably be when you’re a really little kid and you’re in school and you had to make Valentines for everyone in your class. It was the sweetest thing.”

Now Decker has a permanent Valentine. Decker and Roddick, 30, married in April 2009 and because of their busy schedules, Decker says their relationship still feels fresh. “Luckily travel allows me to do that,” she said.

Decker likely has some traveling coming up very soon, as she’s close to nabbing her next film role.

“I especially love comedy, so we have something in the works now that I can’t announce yet, but hopefully soon I can announce a comedy that I have coming up. It will be pretty fun,” she said. “That’s [comedy] definitely something I find I’m most comfortable in.”

Decker showed off her acting skills in 2012’s “What to Expect When You’re Expecting” and “Battleship,” as well as 2011’s “Just Go With It.”

And she recently made a guest appearance on the Fox sitcom, “New Girl,” starring Zooey Deschanel. A big fan of the show (she’s seen every episode), Decker says she jumped at the opportunity.

“The cast was incredible. This is their second season, so they’ve been working together for a little while now,” Decker said. “The chemistry is great. It’s very fraternal. Everyone’s improving with each other and throwing jokes at each other. It was a great familial set.”

After her “New Girl” appearance, Decker, who previously appeared on “Ugly Betty” and “Chuck,” may have caught the television bug.

“TV is something that’s pretty new to me,” she said. “I kind of started in television and then I did mostly movies and I’ve gone back a little bit to television and I really love it.”

It’s been a few years since Decker has done any modeling, as she continues to shift her focus to film and TV.

“I’m doing all acting and I’m just lucky that I’m actually able to work so hopefully, knock on wood, I’ll stay lucky and continue to work on the acting side,” she said.

Brooklyn Decker Interviewed by Modelinia at The world’s largest shave & kiss event with Gillette

Posted by andre with No Comments

Football Player Ray Rice and Actress Brooklyn Decker attend The world’s largest shave & kiss event with Gillette at Time Warner Center and Modelinia was there and they interviewed Brooklyn. Here is the full interview.

1. What’s going on down there today?  I heard you’re trying to break the record for the largest group shave and largest group of virtual kisses?

Well, it’s Valentine’s Day and Gillette did this really fun Kiss and Tell social experiment where they traveled across the country and found that 85% of women prefer to kiss a guy who has a clean shaven face.  So for Valentine’s Day they decided to help guys get their smooch on and they did a huge shave lesson, after which they attempted to break the world record for the most number of kisses by couples in a minute.  It’s been really interesting.  I actually just posted a Vine video on Twitter and it’s actually terrifying to watch people try to kiss each other.

2. Are there a lot of awkward moments watching all of those kisses happen in front of you?

The thing is, when you are watching them try to break this record they’re just kind of hitting each other.  When you think about it, 250 kisses (the current record) in a minute, it’s 24 per second, so they’re just kind of head butting each other to beat the time, so it’s actually quite entertaining and a great way to spend Valentine’s Day.

3. Do you prefer your men clean shaven or a little scruffy?

I do, I like a clean shave.  I think scruffy looks cool, but it’s never fun to kiss.  It looks good on a guy, makes him look a little rugged, but quite frankly, it really burns your face, burns your skin and it’s just never fun to kiss a guy who’s not clean shaven.  At least says 85%.

4. What’s your idea of the perfect Valentine’s Day date?

I’ve never been a big Valentine’s Day celebrator.  I actually don’t remember the last time I celebrated it.  I think like staying home and cooking dinner sounds fun.  You’re beating all of the Valentine’s Day crowds at the restaurants in like New York where I know everything is booked.  So I think sharing a bottle of wine and having dinner at home sounds fun.

5. What’s the best Valentine’s Day present you ever received?

I don’t know if I really have one because I never really celebrated it a ton.  The most fun Valentine’s Days I’ve had were when I was like in elementary school and everyone in class would give each other little valentines and write each other little notes.  This is a weird story, but I remember when I was in elementary school I used to watch The Simpsons, which was probably inappropriate.  There was this one episode though where Lisa gets this Valentine’s Day card and it said, “I choo, choo, choose you.”  Well, someone actually gave me a “choo, choo, choose you” card and I remember being so excited, so that was probably one of the best Valentine’s Day gifts I’ve ever gotten.

6. You were recently on The New Girl.  What has the transition from modeling to TV been like for you?

It’s tough!  I definitely have to work my butt off just to get better at it.  There are all of these people around me who have been doing television, so I definitely have to work harder at it, but I love it.  I love being on set and I love working with comedians, so to me, it’s just been the most rewarding, fun job and I’m very lucky to be doing it.

7. The SI Swimsuit issue just came out.  Have you seen it yet? What did you think of this year’s issue?

I haven’t seen the issue yet, but obviously I’ve seen the cover.  I’m definitely going to have to pick up my copy at the airport today.  But I thought the cover was beautiful.  I mean the fact they shot in Antarctica is really special because obviously they’ve never done that before, so it’s a very unique, very special cover.

‘Battleship’ Sinks Competition to Top Disc Sales Charts

Posted by andre with No Comments

“The Hunger Games” fell to No. 2 and “The Lucky One” debuted at No. 3.

Universal Studios Home Entertainment scored a victory with Battleship the week ending Sept. 2, topping VideoScan’s First Alert sales chart, which tracks overall disc sales, as well as the dedicated Blu-ray Disc sales chart.

The sci-fi actioner, which grossed a modest $65.2 million at the domestic box office, knocked The Hunger Games to the second spot after two weeks at No. 1. On the Blu-ray chart, Battleship outsold Hunger Games by a 2-to-1 margin, with 61% of its sales coming in the high-def format.

Among other newcomers on First Alert, Warner’s The Lucky One debuted at No. 3 and Sony Pictures’ Think Like a Man came in at No. 5.

In all, 10 of the First Alert top 20 were new releases, and five of those were TV shows new on disc, led by the second season of “The Walking Dead” at No. 5. “Walking Dead” fared better on the Blu-ray chart, with the second season at No. 3 and the first season reappearing at No. 20.

On Home Media Magazine’s rental chart, The Hunger Games managed to take the top spot for a third consecutive week. The Dictator held onto the No. 2 spot, while newcomers Think Like a Man and The Pirates! Band of Misfits debuted at No. 3 and No. 4, respectively. Battleship is subject to a 28-day embargo at rental kiosks.
