Brooklyn Decker: ‘I’m No Triple Threat’

Posted by andre with No Comments

She’s made a career for herself in modeling and movies, and now, Brooklyn Decker is ready to tackle a new challenge: the stage.

Just don’t ask her to sing or dance.

“I am no triple threat,” Decker, 25, told PEOPLE at the 7th Annual Andy Roddick Foundation Charity Gala at the W Hotel in Austin on Friday night. “Not even a little bit. Not even a tiny smidge. At all.”

Decker joined newly retired husband Andy Roddick, 30, as well as John Legend, who performed at the event – and smiling newlyweds Matthew McConaughey and Camila, who is expecting the couple’s third child – at the event to raise money for theAndy Roddick Foundation.

“I’ve never done any theater, but I am trying to read for a few plays and hopefully I will get something by the end of this year in New York,” says Decker. “I might as well dive in head first.”

But she and Roddick did oblige Legend when he called them onstage for a little slow dancing before the crowd, who helped raise over a million dollars for the foundation (including a winning $18,000 bid from the McConaugheys on a VIP all-access package for the Austin radio programThe Bobby Bones Show). Roddick plans to build a 10,000 sq-ft, eight court tennis and learning facility for kids in Austin.

“I plan to be more hands on with this foundation,” Roddick told PEOPLE. “[My] decision to retire wasn’t an accident. It was getting to the point that it was harder and harder to leave Austin. When I was on the road, I missed home a lot and when I was home I didn’t miss the road so much, so it was a pretty easy decision for me.”

Decker says Roddick’s dedication to the ARF, which he launched in 2000, is part of the reason she fell for him.

“The fact that Andy does work for kids doesn’t hurt when you are looking at a checklist for a guy,” she says. “He loves kids, he does great things in his community.”

The 5th Annual Andy Roddick Foundation featuring Jimmy Buffett raised $725,000 for at risk youth Saturday Night. Andy was joined by Brooklyn Decker, John Legend, Chrissy Teigen, Houston Street and Bobby Bones in the fund-raising efforts for a very special evening.

The night commenced with guests mingling in tropical decor during a cocktail hour and silent auction at the Austin Hilton. Andy welcomed the generous patrons with a heartfelt speech before dinner where he acknowledged the focus of the Andy Roddick Foundation. “The organizations we work with focus on providing the basic necessities of shelter, safety, education and nutrition,” he explained. “A Glimmer of Hope, Austin Partners for Education, KIPP: Austin Public Schools, The Settlement Home for Children and our Youth Tennis Program are on the front lines every day, helping at risk youth. Their stories are remarkable and inspirational.” A very gracious Andy thanked the attendees throughout the night for being a “part of this journey.”

Wife Brooklyn Decker took the stage with fellow Sports Illustrated Model Chrissy Teigen to auction off a special VIP package. Guests battled to bid on a variety of unique experiences including a set visit to the hit show “The Office”, a unique Sundance Film Festival getaway, Golf with Andy himself, a VIP US Masters experience and more!

Guests enjoyed signature cocktails compliments of Grey Goose and were decked out in Hawaiian style leis. In a fun twist, Andy and Brooklyn introduced Andy wearing Togas. The nontraditional garb was an idea the group had concocted the night before. Jimmy dazzled the crowd with his legendary classics, encouraging people to dance and sing along to the iconic tunes. The surprises continued when John Legend took the stage with Jimmy for a one of a kind collaboration

The successful evening raised both funds and awareness for important organizations that help share the lives of children.
